Prayer Box
Speak, she hears you.
OOC note: As of April 2020, threads with the gods will be capped at three NPC replies! Please keep this in mind when writing god prayers to make sure you get everything you need out of the thread. It’s also possible to handwave prayers by titling your comment HANDWAVED PRAYER. Handwaved prayers lack our usual flourish, but you can expect a faster response!
As of February 2024, god prayers will be handwaved only. Please only submit a prayer if you have a question for either god which needs answering in order to progress your character's arc within Ryslig. If this is something you need to tier up within the god boon system, or just to set up a player plot in general, please don't hesitate to submit a prayer about it! You may shorten it down to an OOC summary of what your character is asking. This will allow any of our helper mods to reply much faster, without having to dig into the specifics of either god's personality/writing quirks. Should this limitation be lifted again in the future, this note will be removed.

[But more importantly...]
I'm sorry. [He's left the room so that he could talk to The Fog privately. As much as he trusts and cares for Jataro, he doesn't really need to be here for this conversation. The little nymph hangs his head slightly, the vines and leaves that comprise his hair drooping slightly.] You wanted me to protect them, and in the end I wasn't able to do that. But...please give me another chance in the future. I may have failed to meet your expectations this time, but next time I won't! I won't let you down!
[His all-green eyes become glassy and wet, but he doesn't cry. He's not going to cry now. Later, maybe, but not while he's apologizing and reporting.]
I know it doesn't excuse my poor performance, but I did try as hard as I could to do what you asked. I was able to misdirect several of the neutrals and gain useful information from them. Not a single one suspected my true alliance. One of them even ended up killing one of his followers on my information, although she wasn't a conduit like I had suspected. I also managed to get one of his followers to turn spy for me. His information was useless this time, but I may be able to make use of him again in the future. He's a stupid, exploitable adult and he fears me.
[Choromatsu basically just HANDED him his biggest weakness, I mean really. All he has to do is keep threatening the lives of the Matsuno brothers, and the third eldest will do whatever he wants.]
[You know...in theory.]
So...that concludes my report, Fog-sama. [He bows deeply.] I once again ask your forgiveness, as well as give you my gratitude for all that you've done for myself and Jataro thusfar.
[Please don't be mad at him, Fog God. Please.]

“Well done,” a voice echoes. It’s the fog god, of course, her words heavy with pride.
“The imposter’s fools slipped by on mere luck and cowardice. But my lovely children arose to every challenge, to every slight. And you too, little sapling… you risked so much. But you are clever, resourceful- they could not equal you. Be proud, child.”
The presence begins to fade, as if turning her back.
“The imposter’s victory will be brief, fleeting. There is more to come. And I shall expect great things from you then. I know now, you will not disappoint me.”

Frosted tips. Finally, Nagisa is a cool kid.Nagisa's breath catches in his throat at the pressure on his head. He'd been hoping for a response, but he hadn't expected this. He wasn't even aware that the Fog God was capable of physical contact. After all, she's simply The Fog.
But it's nice... He's still certain that he doesn't deserve praise for his actions, that what he accomplished was hardly something to be proud of but...a small part of him can't help but be pleased to hear her say that. To recieve a gesture of affection along with it, even something as simple as a pat on the head... it's almost too much for his love-starved little heart.
He remains still and silent as she speaks to him, not even daring to straighten up and try and catch a glimpse of his goddess. Even as she begins to 'turn away', he remains bent double.
"I won't..." His voice is a breathless whisper, as much said to himself as it is to her. As though voicing it aloud strengthens the promise, makes it impossible for him to break. He won't disappoint her. He can't disappoint her. Not when she expects so much of him. Not now that she's saved him and given him purpose again. "I promise. I won't disappoint you... Never..."
It won't be until her presence is completely gone that he'll finally straighten back up and head inside, a warm feeling in his heart despite the ruthlessly logical part of his brain's best attempts to tell him he doesn't deserve it. He's going to cherish that moment, regardless of what common sense tells him to the contrary.
He's certain now. He and Jataro definitely made the right choice. He'd been hesitant at first, and a guilty weight had hung on his conscience ever since they'd joined the side opposing a child. But that weight had lessened as events had unfolded. As he'd seen glimpses into what he could only assume was Elias's true nature: manipulative, deceitful, uncaring. Perhaps, just as there are apparently adults who managed not to become demons as they aged, there are children who become demonic even before they grow up. Maybe it's not as simple as age after all...
