Prayer Box
Speak, she hears you.
OOC note: As of April 2020, threads with the gods will be capped at three NPC replies! Please keep this in mind when writing god prayers to make sure you get everything you need out of the thread. It’s also possible to handwave prayers by titling your comment HANDWAVED PRAYER. Handwaved prayers lack our usual flourish, but you can expect a faster response!
As of February 2024, god prayers will be handwaved only. Please only submit a prayer if you have a question for either god which needs answering in order to progress your character's arc within Ryslig. If this is something you need to tier up within the god boon system, or just to set up a player plot in general, please don't hesitate to submit a prayer about it! You may shorten it down to an OOC summary of what your character is asking. This will allow any of our helper mods to reply much faster, without having to dig into the specifics of either god's personality/writing quirks. Should this limitation be lifted again in the future, this note will be removed.

I've been fishing for answers so long... I want to know-
[ A pause, they're briefly reconsidering. There's a shaky breath before they continue. ]
All I see is fighting, between your followers and Elias', but I barely know what for. Your priest said you want to help us... But I want to hear it from you. Why did you bring us here?

Faint, indecipherable whispers pop in and out until they come together, addressing Fran.]
My priests are correct. I have always wanted to help you.
[It's as if a million voices at once are whispering to Fran.]
I brought you here to be free, my pet. To thrive.
[The voices become much clearer now, almost unifying into one.]
The false idol wants my power for himself so he can snatch your freedom away.

I spoke to one of his priests... Asked what they wanted from Elias-
[ Another pause to figure out their wording. ]
They said they only want to be able to leave... Can you not give that to them, if it's what they truly desire?
[ Their voice shakes a bit, uncertain, but the next words come out stronger, as if they've decided on something. ]
Coming here was a gift of sorts, to me. But I don't believe they see it that way, not while they're forced to take your gift. Th-
[ They stop themselves before uttering the next question, hoping to take things slower. ]

Despite Fran wanting to stop themselves, the whispers take a bit to answer. There is silence for a few moments as the fog thickens, coalescing into a sheet of grey-white. Then finally, in a small voice, a singular soft, icy whisper answers.]
I have done what is best for my children.
A good parent will not always give a child what they want. But will always give what they need.

With a slow nod, Fran raises to their feet, hands tucked behind their back. ]
I think I see...
Thank you for answering my questions, Fog God. [ Another pause, it's so trivial, but while they're here. ] Before I leave. Do you have a name you prefer to be called?

At Fran's next pause, there is another silence, though, as the thickness of the Fog starts to lessen. But with that is a noise that almost sounds like soft, distant laughter.]
I am the Fog, my pet.
[Then, a more distant echo.] Remember that.

I will. Farewell for now!
[ Then they wander off, leaving the town of Dyster, unaware that they'll be brought back shortly later to enter paradise. This world works in such strange ways. ]
